Personality: Royal Assassin has a prince-like attitude that endears him only to his handlers, who know exactly why he acts the way he does. He doesn't stop or take no for an answer until he's gone and done exactly what has been laid out for him to do, either by himself or occasionally by his rider, depending on just who that rider is. He has a one-track mind; once he's set out to do something, he will accomplish this. Accompanying this drive is an unerring determination, one that cannot be broken. Prince simply doesn't give up, and he has a lot of heart and the confidence in his own abilities to do what he has set out to do. His one track mind isn't even a bad thing sometimes - especially on the track. Prince is ruthlessly competitive and motivated to achieve what he wants to achieve, and that drive becomes amplified when he races. Prince's greatest love is to lord over his kingdom as though he is the king and not the prince. His most significant quality is that despite any challenges he may receive for his spot as top dog in the hierarchy - and believe me, there are quite a few challenges - Prince will not give up and doesn't back down. In fact, he even seems to relish in defending his turf. With Prince's attitude comes arrogance and the inability to accept losses. He throws a royal tantrum when he loses something that he's really wanted, and will work doubly hard next time to regain his lost pride.

Pedigree Comments: Prince hails from a pedigree that screams of his suitability for the sprints on both surfaces. His sire Royal Red Richard is a Hall Of Fame inductee who won the Breeders Cup Classic and the Universal Cup in his time as well as many other races - over half, to be precise, of his fifty eight starts ended in victory. His main success came over foreign tracks. Despite competing most successfully at the classic distances, RRR has become a renown sprinting sire. His most successful son is Pegasus Wings, a grade one Hall Of Fame inductee that rarely placed out of the top two, never mind the top three. He won three Breeders Cup races in his lifetime and absolutely dominated the sprints. Here's The King is another sibling, and this grade one sprinter was his younger brother's rival over the tracks. These two sons of RRR blazed to victory and set records during their time. RRR is also the sire of Royal Perfection, Strictly Royal and Manhattan Royalty. Prince's dam Fatal Attraction was verging on grade three before she retired. Her most well known foal is grade four sprinter Attractive Flight.

Racing Comments: Prince is true to form with what we expect from sprinters of the Royal Red Richard line. He breaks quicker than lightning and takes a spot at the front no matter how many horses seek to get in front of him. He is a straight-up, suicidal front runner. He will take that lead and he will go through blisteringly fast fractions to maintain that lead at all costs. He loves to sprint, and his favorite activity is to go at top speed for as long as possible. If he is challenged while on that lead, Prince is not tempered. He pins his ears and just runs faster, accepting the challenge and settling down for a dogfight. He has tons of heart to keep going and has developed the conditioning to be capable of leading a race wire to wire if he has to. With blisteringly fast speed and an innate ability to stay fast for a long time, Prince is one of those wonders in the sprinting world - the sprinter that outsprints all those that try to challenge him.
